New Year, New You in Zipolite, Mexico

Dec. 28 to Jan. 1

Renew, Refresh, Transform!

Join us for an unforgettable escapade as we bid farewell to 2023 and give 2024 a big wet welcome! Embrace your true, fabulous self, whether clothed or naked, and revel in the freedom to do as you please. And hey, with Zipolite's truly awful WiFi, you'll be "Off the Grid" for four sun-soaked days.

You won’t be on your own. We've got a lineup of activities that'll connect you with nature, your fellow OUTcdmx Adventurers, and—if you're up for it—the chance to love on your inner child.

This extraordinary trip is tailor-made for:

  • Queer Men: gay, bi, trans, cis and nonbinary, all ages (21+)
  • International Adventurers because diversity rocks
  • Spanish and English speakers alike (¡Hola! Hello!)
  • Connecting, relaxing, and, who knows, possibly achieving enlightenment?

Your package includes:

  • Four nights of fabulous lodging with your choice of either a luxury or affordable hotel
  • Sharing two delectable dinners and one lunch with your newest buddies
  • Motorbikes (we’ll get 1 bike for every 2 people minimum and pair drivers with riders)
  • A thrilling marine expedition to spot whales, dolphins, and sea turtles
  • Find your wetlands spirit animal at the Ventanilla Ecotourism Reserve
  • Tickets to the hottest New Year's Eve Party on the beach
  • All tipping taken care of for our group adventures (no pocket searching required!)
  • Expert advice and support from the friendly Zipolite locals, they know all the best food, beats, boys, and other attractions

But wait, there's more! These extras are available, but not included:

  • Most meals
  • Transportation to/from your hotel (Get in touch with us after you book your flights or know your bus schedule; we might have some shared transportation options. We’ll do our best to make this easy!)

YOUR GUIDES

Wallace Bachman

Wallace is a New Yorker living in Mexico City. He launched OUTcdmx in 2023 to provide another platform for gay/bi/trans men to connect and experience the magic of Mexico through a queer lens. His vision includes partnering with queer creatives locally to give them greater visibility

and because they’re fun people to know!

He’s been to Oaxaca and Zipolite many times over the past two years and takes enormous delight in sharing their magic with you. Zipolite for its beautiful beaches, men, sunrises and sunsets, the freedom one experiences there, and opportunities to rest and regenerate. Oaxaca for its remarkable food culture and art, both of which remain close to their indigenous roots.

Issvan Duarte

is a Zapotec plastic artist and philosopher from the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca. He takes queer aesthetics and transforms them in a way to perpetuate the mother culture of the indigenous peoples.

Issvan is the Founder and Director of the Taller Código Tonal y Galería de Arte, where he shows his work and teaches art. In his workshops, he shares his academic knowledge as well as his lived experience of the ancient Zapotec peoples of Oaxaca.

He looks forward to interpreting your “tonales” (animals, plants, elements and magical objects that mark us at birth) while we learn Zapotec cosmology and the art of engraving—all while under the mischievous influence of mezcal

What to Expect

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28: GET SETTLED, MAKE NEW FRIENDS

  • Please check into your hotel between 3pm and 6pm. - There will be OUTcdmx people at both hotels to help you. Your welcome email will provide information about how to get to your hotel. Contact Wallace on WhatsApp (+1 646-236-3920) with your arrival information. We will do our best to find the best way to get to your hotel. We will also accommodate anyone needing to arrive early.
  • 6pm-9pm: Drinks, Icebreakers, Dinner (w/vegan options), Orientation - We’ll meet, have a few drinks, share a few stories and hit the town for dinner (all included).

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29: WILDLIFE EXCURSIONS

  • Breakfast - Included for those staying at Casa Biulú, on your own for those staying at Cocos Hotel.
  • Motor Bikes, 9 am - We’ll gather at Cocobike (location will be pointed out before/after dinner) and sort out drivers (need a valid license, any country/state/province) and riders. Having a minimum of 1 motor bike per 2 Adventurers will ensure that everyone has maximum mobility (all included).
  • Excursion - We’ll board our scooters and own the road to Mazunte, where we will go on a super fun little boat and get up close to whales, dolphins, and sea turtles. When finished, we will have lunch in Mazunte then go up the road a bit more to the Venatanilla Ecotourism Reserve where the cocodrilos await. Wear hats, sunblock, Teva-like sandals that are sturdy for walking and can take the water. We’ll have a chance to jump in the ocean from the marine watch boat, so those who want to do that should wear jams or a swimsuit under your street shorts. All fees, meals, tips included.
  • Back to the Beach - By now you will know each other and will know more about how you want to spend the evening. You are free to do you, and your guides will be present and available via WhatsApp to make recommendations, but no one needs a nanny ;-)

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30: FREESTYLIN’

  • Beach/Make Your Own Agenda - You came to meet people, see some wildlife, and just HANG. Today is the hang part of the agenda. OUTcdmx will organize Adventurers’ Choice events, including:
    • Punte Cometa is a high rocky peninsula that juts south into the Pacific a short scooter ride away near Mazunte. It’s an excellent place to meditate and to observe both sunrises and sunsets. Mazunte is the Oaxaca coast’s center for the yoga/crystals/drum circle set, and the hour before sundown is when everyone ascends the point for mirthful celebrations. I will definitely bring the ayahuasca group here on our way to the ceremony.
    • Waterfalls in the hills behind Zipolite. I haven’t been there yet, but I will soon, and will update.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31: REST, PREPARE, ENJOY

  • For Everyone - The same structure as Saturday. We can organize hikes, or just hang out on the beach depending on who wants to do what that day.
  • Sunset Meditation, 5:30 – 7:30 - Everyone is invited to form a circle on the beach for breathwork, meditation, and the sharing of experiences and intentions for the new year. Included.
  • Last Supper, 8 pm
  • New Year’s Eve Party, 10 pm - Boogie down! I’ll be gathering intelligence as to where the best party will be and your tickets will be covered.

MONDAY, JANUARY 1: ONWARD INTO 2024

  • Return Our Motor Bikes: We’ll need to return these to Cocobikes by 9 am. Those wishing to return them Sunday evening before dinner may do so and sleep in.
  • Transportation: People continuing with the Oaxaca for Foodies tour will be leaving around 10 am via ground transportation. For everyone else, please share your departure information with Wallace (WhatsApp +1 646-236-3920) for assistance. We will do our best to coordinate transportation to the airport, bus terminal, or wherever you may be headed.

Note: Mexicans, even in the hospitality sector, lead complicated lives. Guaranteeing precise times and service providers is a fool’s mission. OUTcdmx will make the necessary reservations, but shit happens. When it does, we will communicate the hell out of it and provide alternatives.
